Not a Leaf in the Manning's
tree
The
story of Ryan Leaf is a dark one. In the same draft were Peyton Manning was
taken, we traded up to get whichever QB was not taken by the Colts. So here we
are at #2 overall, the Colts get Manning and we get Leaf. Ryan Leaf was rated
high and had better stats in college the Peyton. So we happily took Leaf, in
training camp everything was fine. Then in game 3 of the regular season he threw
1 for 15 for 4 yards, 4 interceptions and 3 fumbles. He blew up at a reporter
and just like a little kid, he didn't want to get better, he stunk and wanted to
quit. The Manning family has grown up with football, and live for football. Eli
knows what the road ahead is and how hard it is thanks to Peyton and Archie.
This draft seems all too familiar, we have the first pick now and a Manning and
a Leaf want to be (Roethlisberger) are both on our draft boards. Ben
Roethlisberger is this years Leaf, he is a strong big kid like Leaf, did great
in college and rated better then Manning. Now Ben might not quit football but
let it be know that a Manning, will never quit. I think that if we get a QB that
it be Manning or no QB. Ryan Leaf was bad luck but it could happen again, in
fact it happens all the time to QBs but none were as big as the Leaf flop. Many
think that Manning will be a Leaf but this is not the case, he has the same work
ethics as his brother and has a stronger arm then his brother (According to an
interview in The Sporting News). So in closing, I am still for Manning and he
can help us.
